We have our definitive answer. Russia is closed for us and so many families for now. I must say that I am still in disbelief. We were told that there would be hiccups in the process, but in my wildest imagination, I did not think that Russia would close…just like that. For the next couple of days, we will grieve and rest. We trust the Lord that His ways are better than our own yet the sadness remains. Thank you for your prayers and support. Please continue to pray for us as we decide our next step and that we will be at peace as we continue this journey.
Life is never just one road, is it? We travel on many different paths at the same time. As this part of our life has turned dramatically, we continue to change diapers, go to the library with friends, meet with women, counsel…oh wait, that’s me…Barrett has been in the field shooting guns, flying in an osprey, and handing out cookies at the barracks. He is transitioning well to his new unit by serving these young Marines where they are at. What an amazing opportunity to preach and live the gospel for your job! We are truly thankful for where the Lord has us.
And yes, we are penciled in to stay in Okinawa for an added two years. When I told my neighbor this, she laughed in excitement…”you’re not going to move are you?” I smiled. I realized then, how much I enjoy our friendship and life with them. Yes, we will see many friends go and grieve their loss, but to have our neighbors be here the whole time with us is such a blessing…so pray they will extend a year too! =0)
Let me finish with a bright spot from this week. My friend Sarah and I loaded our baby girls into my car and headed to the airport for a special arrival. After a long and tiring trip to the Congo that lasted a month, Jamie introduced their new baby boy to her husband Luke…and we were there to see the sweet meeting. Annabelle rushed up to baby Liam and pointed to his eye and said “BABY!” Oh man, my heart swelled for so many reasons! A family grown, a baby claimed with a new name, and a long paperwork journey finished with a smiling precious face. Praise the Lord!
