I think the dust has settled…what an amazing couple of weeks! Both sets of parents came, Barrett’s sister, my cousin, a friend from Boulder, cousins from Illinois, and one of Barrett’s favorite professors from Cedarville. We toured Dr. Mohler’s house and library with our mouths wide open at the amount of books, model ships, fountain pens, and presidential coins! We sat in the blinding sun in our black robes and listened to Dr. Mohler call us incompetent and then I got high five’s from some of my favorite professors as they processed by my row of graduates! What a blast!
We then celebrated with a cookout that finished just as the deluge of rain dumped its terror. The Lord was gracious with the weather the entire time our family was here! We were able to watch races at Churchill Downs, swing Mickey Mantle’s bat at the Louisville Slugger museum, eat a fantastic meal at a family friend’s house and play a picture telephone game, go to a local farm for some fresh grown food and to give some to the ducks! Then we played cards, talked, had dinner on Fourth Street live where the waitress took Maggie’s plate while she was still chewing, went to the zoo, and learned much about Mohammed Allie at his museum. Our time was full and our fellowship was great!
We were both back at work full swing after our family and friend’s left and I am still fighting my month long sinus infection that flares up when my body is tired. The plan is to take some rest in Chicago next week to worry about nothing and plan less.
We are so thankful for all of you that made the journey and blessed us with your time. We are humbled by our friends and family and grateful for the time we have with each of you! Thus begins the next phase of our lives…
