YEE HA!!!!!! We have officially finished our last final and turned in all of our final papers! We celebrated with burritos and brownie sundaes! Our bliss continues till Monday when we both have to start reading and writing again for our summer course. But for now we just sit and stare all day…gets very boring.
Last week I had the joy of flying back to RI to see the airing of my bro’s TV career on Home Makeover Builders Edition. Unfortunately, Barrett had to stay home to take care of Betsy and finish up his Hebrew stuff. “AUNT COLLEEN!!!!!!!!” My nieces yelled as they came running, sliding, and jumping into my arms, “WHERE’S UNCLE BARRETT?!?!” Too funny! After an afternoon of getting my butt kicked on WII bowling, boxing, tennis, and cow racing by my brother (and almost my 3 year old niece), I sat on a couch with my nieces on my lap watching Sponge Bob Square pants and telling Jonathan about my first year of marriage. It was a sweet time.
My mom and I bonded over shopping the next morning and then I headed to Newport to see my niece Alexis play her first softball game in the freezing weather. She did fantastic and we all died laughing as the gear-laden catcher almost fell over from the weight of her pads! Then home to watch the Derby (so sad!) and have Jonny’ style grilled steak and chicken with the whole fam and friends. What a blast! Then, the big day!
All the volunteers and sponsors gathered at a hotel and ate deep fried goodness of appetizers while being tapped for the local ABC6 station. The Silva family was there as well as the governor and the mayor. The highlights were hearing my parents expound on the project and people, hearing each table cheer as they saw a friend or their company truck. Oh, and hearing Johnny Littlefield praise my brother personally and professionally. Cool stuff!
Im so thankful for my family, their generosity, their love, and their humor…AND getting the chance to see the Redsox win 2 times! It was a great break before my finals…I felt like I had been gone from Louisville for weeks!
Well, now to make the summer to-do list and order our class books! Happy Mother’s Day to you Mom’s and G’Ma’s! Thanks for all your sacrifice, service, and love for us nose picking, mud-laden, energy packed kids who always wanted to know if we were there yet and when dinner was ready! We love you!!
