Blink, Blink…is it August already? Phew!!! I have clicked my ruby reds 3 times and have arrived back in Louisville! The fairytale journey of being whisked to CO to meet Barrett’s family, flying to RI to reconnect with mine and prepare for the wedding, seeing people from a lifetime before, kissing my husband for the first time, a limo ride with my new and old family as we cheered with sparkling eyes, skittles of all kinds everywhere from people with a great sense of humor, staying in Hackensack NJ to take in the NYC sites of Fox News, the Empire State Bldg, Ground 0, the Statue of Liberty, and the subway, Amazing Alaska that is a book in itself! (A cruise is a must do experience!), touring the Supreme Court bldg, seeing old friends, packing my stuff, driving to KY, unpacking my world that has been asleep for 4 years and then trying to find space for it!, going to the Craig and Conner reunions, and figuring out this new role of being a WIFE has been keeping me busy!
Oh the lessons that seem to emanate in the same heart flavor of rainbow colored skittles! Learning to be humble and want the best for Barrett and other people, learning that Im not just thinking about myself anymore, working through frustrating circumstances instead of ignoring them, learning that time is a gift I should give freely, that selfishness is always the wrong motivator…then the grace side! Having a husband that shows me God’s character and love by letting me make the same mistakes over and over again without holding a grudge, the joy of forgiveness after the agony of self inflicted quiet turmoil, phone calls and emails from friends that show they care, and the peace that comes from the security of Barrett’s arms….ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!
Each season of life will never be the epitome or the climax of life; it will never fulfill or satisfy me. Barrett reminded me how our goal of honoring Christ with our lives should not have changed from being single to now being married, so one stage is not better than the other…what a great reminder as the myopic daily duties blind me to our major goal of serving our savoir and fellow man. OK, now where did I put those skittles…
